When the planes hit the Twin Towers on the morning of September 11th, 2011, around three thousand children lost at least one parent.
They watched as the tragedy played out around the world.
Now, ten years on, the children of 9/11 are old enough to reveal, for the first time, how they felt that day….what’s happened to them in the decade since….And how the attacks have shaped their most formative years.
With unique access to many of the children, who are now able to speak and act for themselves, this special reveals the plight of the children of 9/11, through their own words, as they try to explain what it was like for them when the planes struck and killed their mothers or fathers.
They tell us their stories and reveal what has happened to them during the 10 years since 9/11. Some are ‘good news’, heartwarming stories, others are heartbreaking, as the children have battled drug use and depression, and other illnesses, as they tried to come to terms with their grief. Most have triumphed in their own way and are now ready to enter a new and more positive phase of their lives.
