MIP TV saw the announcement of a further 70 hours of original programming in our three key genres, scripted, factual and music.
Richard’s Roxburgh’s multi award-winning performance as the outrageous but loveable barrister, Rake, was justifiably renewed for a second season, and we kept everyone at our stand at MIP amused with the wonderful trailer for our new comedy series, This Christmas. If you are registered to stream from our site I recommend a look.
We have been overwhelmed with the amount of critical acclaim for The Slap which we trust continues to stimulate similar widespread press coverage and accolades for all our broadcast partners who have taken the series. This startlingly original scripted series has been rewarded by the industry for its powerful script and storyline, as well as superb performances and production. The awards and nominations now include the BAFTAS, the Logies, the Monte Carlo TV Festival, the AACTA Awards and the Broadcast Digital Awards.
Our factual slate at MIP featured the seat gripping Coast Guard Alaska, following the gruelling but mostly rewarding work of the extreme rescue teams in one of the coldest inhabited places in the earth. Office co-workers faced the trials and tribulations of surviving in the wild as an often dysfunctional, but hopefully finally improved team in Do or Die, and the austerity economics that so many of us find ourselves inflicted with were featured in the Pawnbrokers, a likeable family business and the stories behind their clients need for cash.
Eco as well as economic travel, with a lot of fun and adventure thrown in comes across in The Green Way Up, as four ambitious young guys challenge themselves to travel long distances on bio fuel only, and our respect and admiration for the parole offices around the world was deepened by The Parole Diaries, featuring brave and inspiring individuals who help their clients stay out of trouble.
Rarely has the female politics of the Middle Ages been seen in such a contemporary light as through the story of the early Queens of England in She Wolves, and the incredibly repeated wars of Afghanistan are put sharply into focus in The Great Game.
As you will see from the rest of our site, music programming remains an important genre to the catalogue, and the Iron Maiden concert from Santiago in Chile performed to an audience of over 50,000 people is as big as it gets. Few if any major bands have perfected the art of touring to every corner of the globe, by the unique technique of chartering and flying their own 757 plane.
We hope you enjoy screening these new shows, and hope to welcome you to our exhibition stands at MIPCOM, MIP and NATPE, or to our offices in London in Euston Tower, one the best views in London!
