DCD Rights acquires worldwide rights to ‘Liberty of London’, secures pre-sales

2 December 2013

International distributor DCD Rights announces that it has acquired worldwide distribution rights for the highly anticipated new documentary series Liberty of London (3×60′). Pre-sales deals for the series produced by Rize USA have already been signed with Foxtel for Australia and NRK for Norway with further deals to be announced soon.

Liberty of London goes behind the scenes at department store Liberty as it gears up for the make-or-break Christmas shopping season. Housed in an iconic half-timber building made from old battleships, Liberty has been drawing in shoppers for over 130 years with its eccentric and eclectic designs. With unprecedented access to the store, its staff and its customers, this series tells the everyday extraordinary stories of life within one of London’s oldest department stores, following the race to get the Christmas shop open on time, via fashion weeks in London and Paris, VIP customer and celebrity visits, and the daily rituals at the heart of the store.

Nicky Davies Williams, CEO, DCD Rights, said: “We are thrilled to be distributing a series that holds such great sales potential off the back of the huge international success of similar shows including ‘Inside Claridge’s’. Broadcasters around the world have a real appetite for behind the scenes series of this type filled with wonderful characters and extraordinary every day stories”.

Sheldon Lazarus, Creative Director, Rize USA, said: “We are pleased to be partnering again with DCD Rights, this time to offer audiences access to the universe of one of Britain’s oldest department stores, in a series which we expect will attract much interest worldwide”.

Liberty of London premieres tonight on Channel 4.
