Rory Moore, a marine biologist and wild life photographer, is on a mission to save the sturgeon from extinction. A prehistoric fish and one of the most critically endangered of species on earth. Working for the Blue Marine Foundation, he has been sent to secure the protection of part of the Caspian Sea, where this fish has been brought to the brink by poachers hunting this enormous creature for its caviar. Moore’s journey will take him from Azerbaijani coast, where he’ll use ground breaking techniques to find this fish, to the rivers of Wisconsin USA where he’ll witness the greatest moment of his career. We also see how others such as the caviar trade itself, an anti-poaching taskforce and even poachers are coming together to resurrect this dinosaur fish. Interviews with experts such as a Pulitzer prized winning journalist and an illegal wildlife investigator will show how major moments in history and the caviar trade has shaped the sturgeon’s fate.
