Striking Out Series 1

Drama / 4 x 60' / HD, Airline, DVD, Format, Non-Theatric

A Bl!nder Films Production for RTÉ with financing from BAI & Acorn Media Enterprises

Striking Out centres on the tumultuous professional and personal life of Dublin based lawyer, Tara Rafferty, and her fledgling private law firm. When the series opens, Tara discovers her fiancé and fellow lawyer Eric has been cheating with a colleague – she breaks up with him, quits her job at the prestigious law firm they worked at together, and sets up her own practice specialising in family and divorce law.

Her new cases will not only pit Tara in direct conflict with influential families and the legal and political establishment, but also challenge her own personal morals as she navigates her new life, and fights the urgings of Eric and her family to go back to the way things were.  With the help of Ray, her opinionated client-turned assistant; Meg, tech guru and private detective extraordinaire; and Senior Council Vincent, Tara’s mentor and friend, Tara begins to realise she is more than capable on standing on her own two feet.

Striking Out deals with the weighty issues of modern love, modern relationships and modern life packed with ethical and emotive dilemmas while being simultaneously filled to the brim with charm, humour, humanity and emotional complexity.
