When Television Presenter Natalie Pinkham went to work in a Romanian Orphanage in her university summer holidays back in 1999 she was warned of one thing… don’t grow personal attachments to the children as the separation will be too painful upon returning home. But she did, and the special bond she developed with a 3 year old girl called Mirela meant that leaving her in the squalor of the orphanage to come back to England has haunted Natalie ever since. Now 12 years later, Natalie embarks on a journey back to Romania with hope of finding out what happened to Mirela and discovering whether the country and its impossibly harsh state-run orphanage system have evolved.
