DCD Rights expands acquisitions team, appointing Philippa Chuter to lead factual content drive

25 July 2016

Independent UK based distributor DCD Rights is expanding its acquisitions team with the appointment of Philippa Chuter to the new role of Senior Acquisitions Executive, it announced today.

Joining from Passion Distribution, Philippa will lead the company’s factual acquisitions drive, developing relationships with new and existing producers and working closely with the sales team to further expand its content slate. The role will report to Pilar Perez, DCD Rights’ Head of Acquisitions. As well as reflecting the continued demand for strong factual content with global appeal, Philippa’s appointment will allow Pilar Perez to deliver the company’s drama acquisitions and co-productions strategy.

Philippa was previously Acquisitions Executive at Passion Distribution, where her responsibilities included securing new producer relationships and content for international distribution. Philippa began her career at BBC Worldwide in Sydney and has also participated as an Industry Advisor for The Indielab TV Accelerator, and as a judge at this year’s RealScreen West Awards.

Nicky Davies Williams, CEO at DCD Rights, commented, “We’re delighted to welcome Philippa to this new dedicated factual role. The international potential for high quality, globally-relevant factual programming is continuing to grow, as evidenced by our recent success with series such as FirstLookTV’s Stalkers Who Kill.  Continued increases in our programme acquisitions funding and the expansion in the drama catalogue and co-production have been key accelerators in our decision to expand our team. Philippa’s appointment will enable Pilar to focus her efforts on growing our drama slate.”
