Richard Hammond wins BAFTA Children’s for ‘Blast Lab®’

Richard Hammond won the Best Presenter Award for Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab®  at the BAFTA Children’s Awards 2009 last night. The series marks DCD-owned September Films and Hammond’s first foray into children’s programming.

Produced by September Films in association with Hamster’s Wheel Productions for CBBC, the first 26 x 30’ series of the science gameshow have proved a huge ratings success in the UK and beyond and 26 new episodes have just completed production, for broadcast on CBBC/BBC2 from 2010.

International sales company DCD Rights distribute Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab®  which has so far sold very well worldwide.

The publishing and merchandising for Blast Lab has got off to a tremendous start with 3 best selling books and a further 4 titles released this autumn. The DVD of the series was released in October by Universal and fun science toys are being developed by leading toy manufacturer Trends.
